Second Regional Training Course on Sampling Methods for Producing Core Data Items for Agricultural and Rural Statistics

The regional training course aims to bring together statisticians and stakeholders to provide technical guidance on the selection and application of appropriate sampling methods for producing the minimum set of core data items for agricultural and rural statistics.

Regional Workshop on Statistical Literacy: Increasing Effective Use of Agricultural and Rural Statistics

The workshop aims to bring together statisticians and stakeholders to examine the issues that need to be addressed in increasing statistical literacy of users of data, particularly those involved in the policy-making process, identify the training needs for improving core competencies for statistical literacy and to map out concrete strategies and implementing activities to meet the identified training needs in their respective countries.

This training-of-trainers course is designed to contribute to the following expected outputs of the Asia-Pacific Regional Action Plan of the Global Strategy; i.e., to improve political support by decision-makers for agricultural and rural statistics in terms of provision of budget and resources and to enhance capacity of national statistical systems to advocate for adequate resources for developing and compiling country-specific minimum set of agricultural and rural statistics on a sustainable basis.

Second RAP Regional Workshop on Building Training Resources for Improving Agricultural and Rural Statistics: Sampling Methods for Agricultural Statistics- Review of Current Practices

The workshop is the second in a series of regional training-of-trainers workshops that are part of the capacity building strategy of the Asia-Pacific Regional Action Plan to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (RAP). The RAP is the implementation plan of the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics1 that aims to assist national statistical systems meet the emerging data needs and at the same time to arrest the erosion of quality and quantity of agricultural and rural statistics. The workshop focuses on practices and issues in applying sampling methods for collecting data on agricultural statistics.
