First Group Training Programme on Improving Capability in Producing Official Statistics for Monitoring the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals , Chiba, Japan
The main objective of the training course is to strengthen capacity of organizations belonging to national statistical systems to increase their knowledge and develop their skills to produce data, apply statistical methods to produce official statistics and indicators and interpret and use these for monitoring progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year Bowman Prize winner are Mr. Jeremiah Sixtus Nwinkum Dery from Ghana Statistical Service (Ghana) and Ms. Manvashi Devi Dookhy from Statistics Mauritius( Mauritius)

Regional Training Course on Agricultural Cost of Production Statistics
This training course is aimed at strengthening the technical capacity of statistical producers
to apply relevant international comparable methods and standards in the compilation of agricultural
cost of production statistics. The regional training course aims tobuild the capacity of statistical
producing institutions in RAP’s priority countries and to train their statistical experts-cum-managers
to compile high quality and internationally comparable agricultural cost of production statistics.

Policy Analysis Workshop: Transition towards Sustainable Agriculture in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – Strategic Implementation, Follow Up and Review
The present policy analysis workshop: Transition towards Sustainable Agriculture in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – Strategic Implementation Follow Up and Review” is planned to respond to emerging challenges of Asia-Pacific developing countries and to assist enhancing national capacities for effectively making relevant policy decisions. The programme is built on that of the previous workshop ‘Monitoring and Evaluation of Policy Options for Sustainable Agriculture, Poverty Alleviation and Food Security in the Post-2015 Development Agenda’ organized by CAPSA and SIAP in in Bogor, Indonesia, in November 2014, and further reflects the latest and ongoing discussion at the global level on SDG implementation, as well as ‘Follow up and review’, and aims to highlight most pragmatic components required for critical decision-making for advancing national sustainable development agenda through promoting sustainable agriculture.

Third Regional Training Course on the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS)
The NSDS training course in Asia and Pacific region aims to strengthen capacity of NSO middle-level managers to lead the design and implementation of NSDS at the country level, consistent with the guidelines and fundamental principles for structuring the preparation and implementation of NSDS.

Workshop on Statistical Business Register for Developing Countries
This workshop aims to strengthen the statistical capacity in the creation and maintenance of a statistical business register (SBR). It is designed for participating countries to learn about the latest recommendations for establishing and maintaining a high quality SBR and to share experience and knowledge regarding SBRs. The participants will also be given the opportunity to discuss good practices and challenges in establishing SBR, accessing data sources, and undertaking SBR maintenance.

Regional Training Course on Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI)
for Agricultural Surveys and Price Reporting
This training course is aimed at the need of statistical offices and statistical units of agricultural ministries of producing timely statistics through adoption of new technologies for data collection and production of global minimum core data items. The training course will provide a strong foundation in Survey Solutions functions and participants are expected to acquire skills to implement a basic survey.

Regional Course on SNA 2008 (Special Topics): Improving Exhaustiveness of GDP Coverage
The course focuses on selected topics as a follow-up to the annual basic- and intermediate-level e-learning SIAP courses that provide the overview of the SNA framework, introduces the new features of the 2008 SNA and builds knowledge and core skills in compilation of national accounts statistics in accordance with the framework. This advanced-level course focuses on providing guidance on approaches to expand and increase exhaustiveness in the coverage of GDP estimates.

Group Training on Agricultural Statistics Planning and Designing
Fifteen government statisticians from twelve countries ( Cote-d’Ivoire, Egypt, Madagascar, Malawi, Myanmar, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Uganda, Kenya and Papua New Guinea） are taking part in JICA training course on Agricultural Statistics Planning and Designing. SIAP facilitated two day sessions on Survey Design＆ Sampling and National Quality Assurance Frameworks on 16-17 August.

Workshop on Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) Training
The workshop provided a forum for sharing FAO’s experience in CAPI application in surveys and data collection. Participants were introduced to the free CAPI software known as Survey Solutions developed by the Development Research Group of the World Bank in collaboration with FAO which meets the requirement of agricultural and prices’ surveys.

Seventh Intermediate-Level e-Learning Course on System of National Accounts (2008 SNA): Integrated Transaction Accounts
The course will provide a strong foundation for the practical understanding and application of the 2008 System of National Accounts in the compilation of key national accounts aggregates. The objectives of the course are to provide an overview of the main changes in the SNA 2008 relative to the SNA 1993 and their effects, demonstrate methods and techniques for compiling transactional accounts in the SNA 2008, and explain use of volume measures in national accounts.

Second Meeting of the Network for the Coordination of Statistical Training in Asia and the Pacific
The ESCAP Committee on Statistics, at its third session, decided to establish a Network for the Coordination of Statistical Training in Asia and the Pacific (the Network) and tasked SIAP to facilitate its work. The key role of the Network is to facilitate information sharing and coordination among statistical training institutions in the region. The second meeting of the Network was convened on 4 March 2016 to review and update its programme of work, including that of the Sub-group.

Regional Workshop on Training of Trainers for Official Statistics
The main objective of the workshop is to improve institutional capacity of national statistical systems (NSSs) in designing, developing and delivering training on official statistics. The workshop also aims at piloting a ToT manual, including a generic template that can be utilized by training providers to develop specialized ToT manuals/guides.

In-person phase of the Training Programme on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) Central Framework for Asia and the Pacific
The SEEA has been identified as one of the useful frameworks for the purpose of monitoring and reporting for the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in support of an inclusive and people-centered sustainable development. The purpose of the training programme is to help participants in acquiring knowledge and skills about compiling environmental-economic accounts; to facilitate information sharing among countries; and to support countries to set up a strategy and work plan for the SEEA implementation. The in-person phase builds upon the online phase of the training that started on 27 October and is scheduled to conclude on 18 December. The in-person training will provide a unique opportunity for participants who had already acquired an understanding of basic SEEA concepts to improve their knowledge through practical exercises and discussions on implementation issues.
