The Eleventh Session of its Governing Council

[30 November – 1 December 2015, Chiba, Japan]

The Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) held the eleventh session of its Governing Council from 30 November to 1 December in Chiba, Japan. Representatives of the host Government (Japan) and seven of the eight elected members of the Governing Council: Australia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation and Thailand attended the session. During the annual session the Governing Council reviewed the administration and financial status of SIAP and the implementation of its programme of work. The discussed issues included: matters arising from the tenth session of the Governing Council; report of the Director of SIAP and work programme and financial plan for 2016-2017.
Governing Council members participated in a roundtable discussion on the topic:

“Statistical capacity development for monitoring the sustainable development goals – models for a transformative agenda for SIAP”.

The Council endorsed the programme of work and financial plan proposed by SIAP for 2016-2017. The programme of work is centred around capacity building to increase availability of data for the SDGs indicators, including the use of new data sources.
